After the coastguard pulled up a large amount of rubbish from the bottom of Tikitapu (Blue Lake), we asked people how to look after Rotorua's lakes.

I think we need to educate the people. Would you do that in your backyard? If everybody looks after their own rubbish and takes it to the bin that would be a great help.

Once [the public] are finished with their litter, they need to take it to the bins. I don't think the lakes are well looked after.

I believe council should do more and also some people say the rubbish bins are a bit small.

There shouldn't be any run-off from properties into the lakes and keep the reserve area clean. Don't leave rubbish, take it with you and dispose of it properly. Watch your fuel in your boats.
