Tickets for Rotorua's October netball international between New Zealand and England are proving hot items, with extra seats being made available in one seating category that is already nearly sold out.
The Silver Ferns take on England at Rotorua's Energy Events Centre on October 28. The match is part of
the New World Netball Series with the two teams competing for the Taini Jamison Trophy.
Rotorua District Councillor and council Sports & Recreation portfolio lead, Charles Sturt, is urging Rotorua locals to get in behind the test match.
"This major netball international presents a rare opportunity for Rotorua fans to see two of the world's top netball nations in action, right here on our own doorstep.
"With the Energy Events Centre we're fortunate to have a world class indoor facility for hosting top sports events. It's a spectacular setting, with great viewing, and there's always a lively, fun-filled family atmosphere whenever we get to host a top netball match here at home.
"If we can achieve a sell-out, we'll be sending a message to other promoters that bringing big time sports events to Rotorua is viable - something we want to encourage as part of our Rotorua 2030 vision for the district.
"We don't get many chances like this on home ground. So whether you're a die-hard Silver Ferns fan, or your allegiance lies with England, let's get out and support this major sports event," Mr Sturt said.
Tickets for the 28 October netball international at the Energy Events Centre are still available in the $45 to $70.55 price range, and can be bought from the Rotorua Convention Centre or Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.
