Malfroy Primary School has won a $10,000 working bee through the ITM Cup 'Because we love it here' schools promotion.
The promotion, which has been running throughout the Bay of Plenty during the ITM Cup Competition, saw schools collect stickers at each Bay of Plenty Steamers home match with theschool that collected the most stickers winning the $10,000 working bee.
Principal Nicky Brell was delighted when he received the good news.
"We won, we really won. I will have to sit down, this is fantastic news." "The first thing that comes to mind is our old school hall kitchen. The kitchen is used by our Breakfast Club and is in need of an upgrade. But we will look to talk to the students and the board to see what other ideas we can come up with before making our decision. We are just delighted we have won at the moment," Mr Brell said.
ITM will be delivering 13 prizes to primary schools across the country.
The Bay of Plenty Rugby Union will hold a short ceremony at the end of this Sunday's Steamers match against Wellington at ASB Baypark Stadium to present Malfroy Primary School with its prize.
