Lady luck can be rather cruel.

Only a week after defeating Rotoiti by one point, Whakarewarewa have fallen to the same fate.

Whaka lost 29-28 to Greerton Marist on Saturday in Tauranga.

The match was close throughout the 80 minutes but Greerton managed to keep their heads out in front for most of the game. Meanwhile, Rotoiti recorded their second draw of the season in the tough Baywide premier competition.

They drew 23-23 with Rangiuru at Emery Park on Saturday. Rangiuru were unfortunate not to take maximum points from the game after scoring four tries and missing all four conversions. Rotoiti came from behind to tie the match after trailing at halftime. Their development teams also fought out a draw, 25-all. Rotoiti will now turn their focus to today's match against Mount Maunganui. The Mount are in great form heading into the match at Blake Park after defeating Tauranga Sports 37-3 on Saturday. However, Rotoiti have already got the better of the Mount this year, beating them 40-30 in the first half of the season. Whaka do not have a match today after moving their Queens Birthday Weekend double-header match against Opotiki to earlier in the season. They won the match 48-0 in March.
