Rotorua trio Fare Thee Well have been eliminated from TV singing show The X Factor NZ.

It was their second time in the bottom two, and tonight the judges' votes didn't go their way.

The trio were forced by a lack of public votes into a sing-off against contestant Lili Bayliss.

While one judge said their version of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah was their best performance yet, it wasn't enough to save them.

The trio sang Thirsty Merc's Summertime on Monday night's show.
