Rotorua locals enjoy music, art and food at Art in the Park.

Sun, music and creativity - Rotorua's Art in the Park had all the ingredients for an enjoyable day out.

And so it was, as art enthusiasts flocked to the Government Gardens to check out the event organised by The Arts Village.

The event included art stalls, live music, free children's activities and food stalls.

The Arts Village administration support Sam Smith said it had been a busy day.

"It's been really good to see so many happy people," she said.

Smith said the combination of food, music and unique artwork made for a popular event.

"It's good to see local artists and also the local Rotorua people come to see and support those local artists. It's definitely busier than what we expected."

Pāpāmoa artist Totaea Rendell said having a stall at Art in the Park was an opportunity to promote his work.

"It's a great event and I think the setting is quite stunning," he said.

"This market is just fabulous," she said.

"I love it here."
