Armed police have blocked off both ends of Rotorua’s Elliott Cres in a police operation this afternoon.

A resident said armed police were standing guard at both ends of the street, which intersects with Wharenui Rd in Ōwhata, Rotorua.

Police confirmed they are conducting inquiries at an Elliott Cres house but wouldn’t elaborate further, only to say it was supporting other ongoing inquiries.

Nearby Rotorua Lakes High School told the Rotorua Daily Post they were unaffected.

Both ends of Elliott Cres have been blocked off by armed police this afternoon.

It is the second time armed police have been in the area in recent days.

Armed police cordoned off nearby Scott Ave on Thursday last week in a planned operation.
