Rotorua police officer discharged from hospital a week after attack

The Rotorua police officer attacked while on duty has been discharged from hospital.

The constable was taken to Waikato Hospital with head injuries after being assaulted on Te Ngae Rd in Owhata last Thursday.

He was transferred to Rotorua Hospital earlier this week and has since been discharged.

A 24-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder and will next appear in Rotorua District Court on August 8.
