A Rotorua man has been seriously injured when his motorbike collided with a truck.

The Trustpower TECT rescue helicopter was sent to Te Kaha yesterday afternoon where the 52-year-old had collided with a large truck when he lost control of his motorbike on a sharp bend.

The man and his motorbike collided with the front of the truck with rider finishing up down a bank.

He sustained serious hip and lower leg injuries.

His two riding companions called emergency services, the man was driven to Te Kaha medical centre to meet the helicopter, which flew him to Rotorua Hospital.
