Rotorua kids enrolled at independent school

Rotorua families are being invited to see for themselves Tauranga's first independent school, opening next month.

Academic Colleges Group (ACG) Tauranga is the first school of its kind outside Auckland.

Principal Chris Cottell-Mayhew said the school was committed to providing high quality education in the Bay of Plenty.

"Students from Rotorua have already enrolled, and a school bus will travel from Rotorua to the Pyes Pa campus each day."

Enrolments will remain open throughout the year.

Interested families are invited to contact ACG Tauranga for a personal tour with the principal.

Mrs Cottell-Mayhew said ACG Tauranga was the only school in the Bay of Plenty totally based on the Cambridge Curriculum, starting from primary school.

ACG Tauranga is secular, uniformed and co-educational. Students are not required to sit an entrance exam.

With annual fees this year of $14,200 for a Year 1 to 6 pupil or $16,600 for a Year 7 to 9 child for a lump-sum payment as of last week the school had about 40 students enrolled, with 10 teachers.
