The Rotorua Daily Post has been announced as a finalist for a prestigious Newspaper of the Year award in this year's Voyager Media Awards.
In the Newspaper of the Year (up to 30,000 circulation) category, the Rotorua Daily Post is one of five finalists, along with sister NZME newspaper theBay of Plenty Times.
Carmen Hall is a finalist for Regional Journalist of the Year for her work across the Rotorua Daily Post and the Bay of Plenty Times while photographer Andrew Warner, who also works across both titles, is in the running for the award for Best Photography - news.
Another NZME paper, the Taupo & Turangi Weekender, is one of 10 finalists for the Community Newspaper of the Year.
Scott Inglis, NZME regional editor - Bay of Plenty, said he was proud of the Rotorua editorial team's achievements.
"The Daily Post team works incredibly hard to deliver excellent and relevant local content for its audiences week in and week out."
The NZ Herald is a finalist for Newspaper of the Year (more than 30,000 circulation), the Weekend Herald is up for Weekly Newspaper of the Year while nzherald.co.nz is a finalist for Website of the Year and Best News Website or App.
A number of its staff are also finalists in individual categories.
The Voyager Media Awards, formerly known as the Canon Media Awards, event is prestigious and highly regarded on the New Zealand media calendar.
