Lovers of musicals will be in for a treat this weekend when two of the city's most-loved performers take to the stage to sing some of Broadway's greatest hits.

Well-known local singers Evelyn Falconer and Susan Morrison will perform as part of Rotorua Musical Theatre's production DUET II, which opens today at Casa Blanca Theatre.

Over the years Falconer and Morrison have made names for themselves in the local music scene, often taking to the stage to sing at events and ceremonies, and will be sharing their talents with the Rotorua public in a seven-show season of DUET II: Older Not Necessarily Wiser.

The show features some of the biggest musical numbers of all time, including songs from Cats, Evita, Wicked, Chicago, Cabaret, Chess and more.

Rotorua Musical Theatre's Richard Marshall said the performance was bound to have people awe-struck by the duo's talent.

"They're two very well-known and talented Rotorua performers, and I'm sure people will enjoy what they have to offer."

Mr Marshall said the performers were also certain to have audiences in hysterics, as they got taken on a rollercoaster of laughter and tears with songs from the greatest of musicals.

It made for a wonderful night out and was not to be missed, he said.
