Potential bush fire threat in Reporoa

A number of fire appliances are currently at the scene of a controlled burn-off in Reporoa, with concerns it could reach some native pine forest.

A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesman said fire appliances had been at the scene since this morning as a safety precaution. However, at about 1.30pm, there were more trucks sent as they were worried the burn-off would spread to a nearby native forest.

The fire is still burning now, but it is under control.
