Fenton St will be closed from 8am to 1pm today between Pukuatua St and Haupapa St for the official opening of the new Rotorua police station and Bay of Plenty police headquarters.

Detours are in place.

The ceremony will include a full pohiri, a march by police personnel, inspection of police staff on parade by Commissioner Mike Bush and Police Minister Anne Tolley, and a haka by police staff.

The new Rotorua police station will be open to the public on June 14 as part of the National Police Open Day.

The open day is from 11am to 3pm and will include tours of the $18 million station.
