Police launch homicide investigation in Opotiki after woman found dead

Police are launching a homicide investigation in Opotiki after a woman was found dead early this afternoon.

The woman was found in a residential property on Wharf St at about 1.15pm.

She had injuries to her face and arms that were fatal, Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Standen said.

Police have cordoned off the street beside the Otara River, and a large number of officers are at the address.

The woman's identity has not yet been confirmed.
