Eastern Bay of Plenty Police investigating a suspected homicide in Opotiki yesterday have arrested a 27-year-old Opotiki man and charged him with motor vehicle offences.
Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Standen said the man was "assisting police with our homicide inquiries".
"The man is due in Whakatane District Court tomorrow andit is likely he will face other charges then.
"A large contingent of investigators remain working on the scene examination and related inquiries into the homicide."
A woman was found dead at a residential property near the CBD about 1.15pm yesterday.
