Police call fire after alarm set off

One emergency service had to call on the other today after a prisoner at the Rotorua police station damaged a sprinkler, sparking a Rotorua Fire Brigade callout.

Senior Sergeant Karl Konlechner said a prisoner damaged a sprinkler in a cell block which set the alarm off.

Rotorua Fire Station senior station officer Colin Rolfe said the alarms were set off about 5.30pm.

He said they checked the buiding and turned the sprinkler off but there was no fire.
