She retired from the role as Keep Rotorua Beautiful co-ordinator last month.
Mrs Findon was responsible for keeping Rotorua looking good with her efforts to make Rotorua the most beautiful city in New Zealand.
During her time with the organisation Keep Rotorua Beautiful also won the supreme award at last year's TrustPower Spirit of Rotorua Awards and went on to the national awards in March which was won by another organisation.
The opening of Resource, the new education centre at the city's In-Town Recycling Centre was another success story for Keep Rotorua Beautiful - it was a project they worked on for a year.
The centre focuses on household recycling, solid waste, pollution control, waste water and fresh water through a series of displays.
Mrs Findon said she was honoured to be named the Rotorua Daily Post Person of the Month.
"I think it's very special and not something I would have expected."
Mrs Findon, who is into her third week of retirement, said she had been cleaning windows and her oven and working in the garden as well as testing out the new caravan with a trip to Ohope.
She has also been part of a Soroptimists International of Rotorua's city-wide appeal to collect unwanted pyjamas, slippers, dressing gowns, underwear and socks to help Women's Refuge.
She said she didn't miss the "rubbish and tagging" aspects of her former role but did miss the "wonderful" staff and volunteers.
Mrs Findon also had some advice for the person employed as the next Keep Rotorua Beautiful co-ordinator - some advice she was given when she took on the role.
"Don't let anyone tell them that they have big shoes to fill because they have got their own shoes."
