There has been so much going on lately the fact we've slipped past the halfway point of the year slipped by me too. It certainly feels like Father Time has cranked up the pace of the clock doesn't it? Seems only a couple of months ago we were celebrating New Year's and enjoying the warm temperatures of summer.

But here we are now in the grip of another cold blast as winter starts to take hold. And it's been one of those funny starts to the school holidays with the contrasting wet-and-warm weather to start, and now the cold-but-fine days kicking in. Despite the different conditions, it is encouraging to see locals and visitors alike out doing stuff around our city.

From my studios above Hinemoa St, one thing that is evident to me is the people using the part-complete Green Corridor through the central city. I have certainly noticed a bit of an increase in use this week during the holidays, which is positive to see. Not huge numbers by any stretch, and personally I'm still reserving judgment on the whole concept, but we've got to give it a chance. I'm looking forward to being part of the official opening day that is being planned and from there it should be all go. I'm just hoping there is a bit more green paint to spread around!

One thing I have liked about the wet start to the holidays is it has meant extra home baking going on. Yum, nothing like it really. And of all things the girls have been making Mickey Mouse cookies that have looked and tasted delicious.

Speaking of Mickey, right now on The Hits we've got the chance for you to win a family trip for four to Disneyland! We're celebrating the new Sky Movies Disney channel, so just listen to The Hits Rotorua 97.5 and we could play the cue-to-call anytime for the chance to be in the draw.

Have you spotted the cool little blue Suzuki Swift driving around Rotorua over the past couple of weeks? It is pretty hard to miss as part of our Rotorua Central "Shop To Win" that is on right through this month. Up for grabs is a $4000 shopping spree at Rotorua Central, and then the chance to win a new Swift from Grant Johnstone Suzuki on Fairy Springs Rd.

All you have to do is shop at any of the stores at Rotorua Central Mall and fill in the entry form. Drop it in the entry box at the foodcourt area and then keep The Hits loud to find out if you're one of our finalists. I'm drawing a few finalists each weekday and we'll end up with 100 people having the chance to win on Saturday, August 1. It's going to be an exciting draw, that is for sure.
