One person has been confirmed to have died following a truck crash which has forced the closure of State Highway 1 near Tokoroa all night.
The crash took place near Galaxy Rd about 3.55pm with a second person taken to Waikato Hospital in a moderate condition.
"Motorists are advised to
plan ahead as the detour in place may add approximately twenty minutes onto their journey," police said.
Police advise the road is likely to remain closed all night between Balmoral Drive and Kinleith Rd.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area until the scene was cleared and observe all diversions which may be in place.
