Famous Dr Seuss stories are being brought to life by Rotorua secondary school students in a musical named The Seussical.
Rotorua Girls' High School and Rotorua Boys' High School are holding their annual school production based around 15 different Dr Seuss stories.
About 100 staff and students have put their hearts and souls into the family show.
Director of the production Anna Richardson said it was a fun story and the costumes and set were amazing.
"We wanted to try something different this year," she said.
"Adults know the Dr Seuss stories like Cat in The Hat, Horton Hears a Who and all the kids love it, it's just a really good story."
Mrs Richardson said the students had put a lot of effort into it and the cast had been rehearsing since term one.
"It's a very intense big musical production but our team is out to do the job," she said.
The Rotorua Girls' High School hall has been under renovations and the production team have had to share the hall with the kapa haka and Stage Challenge teams using it for practices.
Reesby Coachlines and Rotorua Rotary clubs had supported it financially and offered nine buses to give 1500 primary and intermediate students from around the district a chance to see the show.
Producer of the musical and deputy principal Di Donnelly said she was "absolutely thrilled" this had been made possible.
Owhata, Selwyn Heights, Waikite Valley and Rotoma are just some of the schools making the trip to see the show.
Mrs Donnelly said the build-up to the show was going really well.
"It's such a cool performance," she said.
"The music is lovely, we have an amazing backdrop, really good singers and its just a lovely family story," she said.
Public evening shows start at 7pm every night from Monday through to Saturday in the Rotorua Girls High School Nina Hogan Hall. Tickets are available from the RGHS office.
Student tickets cost $6, Adults $12 or family tickets for two adults and two children cost $30.
