What will the new Steamers jersey look like?

Three Bay of Plenty youths have been shortlisted in a competition to design an alternate jersey for the Bay of Plenty Steamers 2014 campaign.

Keinan McCollum, Taine Lansdale and Aidan Horan will find out on Friday which one of their designs has been picked.

The winning jersey will be worn during the Steamers away match against Taranaki in August as well as the home match versus Otago in October.

The top three entries were selected by a panel based on criteria, including elements that proudly display the Bay of Plenty as a region, retaining the traditional colours of blue and gold and expressing a love of rugby in the design.

Steamers coach Kevin Schuler said there was "extensive thought and expression" that went into the 75 entries received.

"It was exciting to see so many entries and so much support for the Steamers alternate jersey competition," he said.

"All three finalists were chosen because they not only had cool designs, but also great stories and meaning behind their creations. We promise that the winning jersey will be worn with real pride by the team this season."

The winner will be decided by the Bay of Plenty community at 4pm on Friday on its Facebook page.

Supporters can like one design, and the design with the most likes will be the winner.

The 2014 alternate jersey will be made available in limited numbers only to the public via presales. The winner will receive a jersey that can be signed by the 2014 Bay of Plenty Steamers team.
