Rotorua's newest fastfood restaurant will open its doors in just over a week's time.

Carl's Jr on Amohau St will open on Tuesday, August 13th. A Carl's Jr spokeswoman said the restaurant would be blessed by a local kaumatua before the doors open to the public at 9am.

The restaurant will be officially opened by the Restaurant Brands chief executive Russel Creedy and the restaurant manager. Recruitment had been complex and the more than 40 staff employed from Rotorua were currently being trained.

Carl's Jr was granted resource consent in April to build the 80-seat, 275sq m drive-through restaurant with 26 car parks.

Vehicles will be able to enter from and exit on to Amohau St and at the rear of the site adjacent to the carpark for Kurious Kiwi and Burger King.

Carl's Jr is an American fast food restaurant chain. Its first restaurant in New Zealand opened in 2011. There are now seven in Auckland and one in Palmerston North.

Over time, the company expects to have between 35-60 Carl's Jr restaurants around the country.
