New visitor information guide for campers.

New visitor information guide for campers.

Visitors and locals wanting to camp next to one of Rotorua's beautiful lakes will have help making their holiday plans with the release of a new visitor information guide.

10 Great Rotorua Campsites features lakeside camp and campervan sites, bringing together information from the Department of Conservation (DOC) and Rotorua Lakes Council in one document.

"Visitors generally don't mind who manages the campsite they plan to stay at, they just want to know where it is, how much it costs and what facilities they can enjoy" explained DOC Visitor Information Ranger Catherine Noble.

The publication features five conservation campsites, four council campsites and the Blue Lake Top 10 Holiday Park - a DOC approved concessionaire.

"We're predicting a really busy peak tourism season and it's important that visitors can find out the information they require regardless of who manages the assets. This will be a really useful tool for people at the Rotorua iSite."

The brochure makes it easy for visitors to see which lakeside campsites allow motorhomes, which allow dogs and where boating facilities exist. The document is the third in a series of collaborative releases in a partnership brand by DOC and Destination Rotorua. 10 Great Rotorua Rides and Walking and Hiking in the Rotorua District were released earlier in 2015.

The brochures are available from the Rotorua iSite and from www.doc.govt.nz.
