New parking spaces are being created at the old bus stop on Pukuatua Street

Twenty new car parking spaces are being added to Rotorua's inner city

Works are currently underway to remove the old bus parking bays in Pukuatua Street and replace them with car parking spaces, with the project expected to be finished by the end of September.

The bus stop on Pukuatua St was recently replaced by four new bus stops across the inner city - in Amohia Street, Arawa Street, Fenton Street, and in Rotorua Central mall

Rotorua's inner city has approximately 5000 vehicle parking spaces - more than 3513 spaces provided by Rotorua Lakes Council and a further 1663 parking spaces at Rotorua Central mall.

When complete, the new Green Corridor through the inner city will use 50 public car park spaces.

Meanwhile a four-week period of public consultation to help determine final parking arrangements for the inner city commenced today.

A large inner city aerial map showing the proposed parking changes is on display at Rotorua Lakes Council's Ideas Store in Hinemoa Street near City Focus where people are being invited to record their views along with giving feedback on concepts on display for refreshing City Focus

Public feedback can also be made on the council website - rotorualakescouncil.nz.
