Mt Ruapehu's ski season has been extended to Labour Weekend, making it the longest season in the Southern Hemisphere.
The season at Whakapapa was scheduled to close on October 11, now both Turoa and Whakapapa will be open until Labour Weekend, ending October 26.
Mt Ruapehu executive manager commercial SamDickson said a cooler spring was responsible for the extension.
"We've welcomed the cooler temperatures we've been experiencing this Spring as it's brought us a significant amount of high quality snow that we weren't expecting.
"Extensive skiable terrain and a 2.8m snow base means we have some of the best skiing and riding conditions at Whakapapa for a number of years.
"The wide expansive trails, and high quality snow conditions reinforce the fact that Mt Ruapehu is the perfect Spring skiing destination."
In 2015 an all-mountain adult day pass is $95 for the first day, plus an additional $5 refundable snow card deposit, with a top up of $90 per day.
The youth (5 to 18 years) all-mountain day pass is $57, plus an additional $5 refundable snow card deposit, and a top up of $51 per day. All children four years and under visit free.
