Motorcyclist injured after hitting bridge near Rotorua

One person has suffered serious injuries in a crash near Rotorua.

Police said a motorcyclist was seriously injured after hitting a single-lane bridge in Hamurana on State Highway 36 about 6pm on Saturday.

The bridge was blocked but the road was cleared at 8.10pm.

The crash happened between Dudley Rd and Pyes Pa Rd.

A Rotorua Hospital spokeswoman said the patient was in a satisfactory condition in Rotorua Hospital.

Inquiries are ongoing into the circumstances.
