Another part of the fire-ravaged St John's Church has been demolished after recent storm damage.

Reverend Lance Thomas said part of the church ruins were "compromised" after a storm several weeks ago. The demolition was done for safety reasons.

Full demolition and removal is expected to take place soon and Reverend Thomas expected to be consulting architects on the design of a new church within the next few months.

The church was destroyed in a massive blaze in February.
