The winners of the annual Keep Rotorua Beautiful awards will be announced at an official prizegiving next week.

Keep Rotorua Beautiful is hosting its annual awards function in the Rotorua District Council's Civic Centre on Tuesday night.

Rotorua Mayor Kevin Winters will host the awards with last year's Keep Rotorua Beautiful speech competition winner Daniel Poskitt appearing as guest speaker.

The Rotorua District Council's Keep Rotorua Beautiful co-ordinator Christine Findon said finalists would be competing for the top prize in two catagories - corporate and community - with the winner of each receiving a trophy.

Mrs Findon said her committee would make the final selections from nominations sent in by the public.

Nominations were received for people doing a wide variety of work, from picking up litter and removing graffiti to renovating buildings. "The majority of nominees are volunteers but there are also people who have come to our notice who are worthy of acknowledgement for going over and above the call of duty."

All nominees would receive a framed certificate.

The awards function will be at the Rotorua District Council's Civic Centre on Tuesday, March 20 at 7.15pm.
