SCENE: Where Israel Jack was killed early on Sunday.

Police investigating the death of Israel Jack in Rotorua are trying to piece together his last movements.

The 20-year-old man died between 4.20am and 4.30am on Sunday, August 18 on Te Ngae Rd.

He had earlier been socialising in town and after leaving town is believed to have begun walking along SH30 Te Ngae Road.

Senior Sergeant Brendon Keenan /said: "We are particularly interested in the area between the Te Ngae shopping centre at the intersection of Te Ngae Road and Owhata Road and the location where Mr Jack was discovered, which was between Pohutukawa Drive and Robinson Avenue, a couple of hundred metres before the McDonald's restaurant.

"We know that the distance between the shopping centre and where Mr Jack was discovered is approximately 1.5km and we want to hear from anyone who saw Mr Jack between these two points or can tell us how he came to be on the road."

Mr Jack was wearing a black t-shirt with the letters L O W E in large white script across the front. He was 5ft 8ins tall and athletic build with no noticebale tattoos.

Police also want to hear from anyone else who saw or spoke to Mr Jack early on Sunday monring or has any information that may assist this investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Rotorua Police on 07 348 0099.
