A man was impaled on a fence after falling from a ladder.
Emergency services were called to a Selwyn Rd house in Rotorua about 2.40pm yesterday after the man, who was painting the house, fell from his ladder and a fence paling went through his upper thigh.
Police,
firefighters, paramedics and animal control officers were called to the house. A Fire Service spokesman said the fire service was called as "man power'' to help get the man off the fence.
Animal control officers were also called as a precaution be cause dogs were on the property when the incident happened.
None of the dogs was taken by animal control.
With the man being a contractor, the Department of Labour was called and will conduct a preliminary scene check to decide if an investigation needs to be launched into the incident.
