Man facing murder charge after serious assault in Taupō

Police have released the name of a man who died after being assaulted on Arthur Crescent in Taupō last night.
He was George Christopher Cross, aged 37, from Taupō.
A 34-year-old man has been charged with Cross' murder.
Police said they were called to Arthur Cr just after 11pm yesterday.
A homicide investigation has been launched with police speaking to witnesses and examining the scene.
"A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder," police said.
