Rotorua women have the chance to learn how to look fabulous and feel good, while helping raise much needed funds to help support future parents.

Rotorua Plunket is hosting fashion stylist Lisa O'Neill on Monday as she presents her What a Woman Wants show aimed at teaching women what to wear and how to feel good wearing it.

Plunket spokeswoman Angie Brierley said money raised from the fundraiser would go towards the major new building project which would see the dated and cramped Plunket rooms on Pukuatua St knocked down or sold and moved off site, with a new centre built from scratch.

Mrs Brierley said Ms O'Neill was chosen because of her positive body image for women, especially those who had recently had children, and because she provided such an entertaining talk.

"People can expect a lot of laughs, they can expect their underwear to be critiqued on whether it fits properly, she doesn't hold back."

Mrs Brierley said Ms O'Neill talked about different body shapes and what people should wear to suit them, and there was time afterwards for quick one-on-one advice for those who did not know their shape.

"She is really funny. I'd definitely advise people to wear waterproof mascara."

Ms O'Neill is a personal stylist, motivational speaker and author with more than 20 years' fashion experience.

Mrs Brierley said they would love to have about 150 people head along to the event, but ticket sales had been slow so far.

Tickets are available from the Plunket Office in Pukuatua St (cash only), BNZ Amohau St or online at www.iticket.co.nz. Tickets are $25 and include a light supper. A cash bar is available.

It is being held at the Arawa Lounge at Rotorua Racecourse. Doors open at 7pm.
