Long-serving Rotorua nurse recognised at national awards

A long-serving Rotorua nurse has been acknowledged at this year's NZNO awards for service to nursing or midwifery.

Rotorua's Kim Brooks has been in nursing for more than 40 years and was yesterday recognised for her work.

The NZNO awards dinner took place in Wellington last night and awarded nurses or midwives who had made a difference to the practice at a national level.

Brooks spent a good portion of her career as a clinical nurse leader at Rotorua Hospital and even spent a bit of time in Cambodia training nurses.

She has had a number of leadership and management roles, including associate director of nursing and surgical services at Taupō Hospital.

She is currently working for Radius Care Facility as a clinical manager.

She has advocated for gerontology nurses and aged care throughout her work.

The recipients came from Auckland, Wairoa, Hamilton, Rotorua, and Palmerston North and had to be NZNO members.
