Police are appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage of a fatal crash near Taupō.

At 2.10am on Monday, police were called to a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 5, between Taupō and Napier, where one person had died.

The Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination, and inquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing, police said today.

“Police would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the crash or the manner of driving of a green Land Rover Discovery towing a trailer with two motorcycles.

“Alternatively, if you have dashcam footage from the SH5, Taupō, or surrounding areas, in the late hours of Sunday, March 8, to the early hours of Monday morning, please get in touch.”
