The Wai-Coa-Bay Stallions were unable to turn their grand final appearance into a national title, losing to the Canterbury Bulls 40-8 today.
The Stallions were gifted a place in the final after two teams above them on the table, Counties Manukau and Akarana, were disqualified from playing in the final
due to fielding ineligible players during the season.
The Steamers had originally finished fourth on the Pirtek National Premiership ladder.
Luckily the Stallions, who only found out on Thursday night that they were playing in the final, were already planning to get together today for their prize giving.
The Stallions struggled to keep up with the Bulls in the Pirtek National Premiership final at Mount Smart Stadium today. The Bulls scored seven tries to the Stallions two, to notch up an impressive victory.
