There's just a few days left for Rotorua organisations to apply for help with operational costs – or risk waiting another three years.
Rotorua Trust's next operating cost grant cycle is now open, with $550,000 set aside to be given out over each of the next three years.
Rotorua Trustchairman Stewart Edward encouraged Rotorua-based organisations that met the criteria to get applications in before the 5pm close off on Friday November 9, as the trust only offered the funding every three years.
"The funding can go towards some of the expensive day-to-day operating costs such as rent, rates, insurance or electricity – items that are essential for organisations which want to help the community but are difficult to get funding for."
Edward said most funders preferred to target specific projects.
"These three-yearly operating cost grants are one way we can help organisations help others in our community."
Most operating grants fall between $2000 and $5000 per annum, for three years.
To be eligible, organisations need to be based in Rotorua, registered with the Charities Commission, have been in operation for at least two years and able to demonstrate strong governance and a track record of making a positive difference.
"Importantly, they need to provide a service to the Rotorua community, especially in our priority funding areas, which include health and the first 1000 days of a child's life, education and employment opportunities, vibrancy, the environment and renewable energy and strengthening our communities," Edward said.
Applications for the funding are available from the trust's office and on the website, www.rotoruatrust.org.nz, and will be open until 5pm Friday.
Confirmation of funding will be made at the end of January 2019.
