Kawerau shooting: Three men appear in court

Three men have appeared in the Whakatane District Court charged with attempted murder.

The trio, aged 21, 29 and 52, were all dressed in white boiler suits and appeared before a community magistrate.

They were remanded in custody to reappear in the Whakatane District Court on Wednesday.

Duty solicitor Rebecca Plunket asked for suppression until the men had a lawyer appointed and a formal application could be made.

The attempted murder charges stemmed from an incident at a River Road property at approximately 6.15am on Friday.

Two men, aged 38 and 48, were shot at the address and remain in a critical condition in Waikato Hospital.
