Fancy strutting your stuff on stage in front of hundreds of people?

Those keen to take part in this year's Harcourts Dancing with the Stars have little more than a month to practice ahead of public auditions on April 22.

While the 18 "stars" have been selected there's still the chance for one more couple to take the stage in the fundraiser for the Rotorua Community Hospice.

This year's event will be held at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre on August 5.

Hospice Trust funding manager Jan Morgan said last year more than 20 people turned up for the final auditions, and she expected because of the popularity of last year's event there would be just as many this time around.

She said the competition was unique because it paired "strangers with strangers" and inexperienced dancers together.

Ms Morgan said they preferred the final pairing not to be a couple, and there was no need for dance experience.

"If they have dance experience fabulous, if they don't that is not so bad."

Ms Morgan said what they were after was someone with a stage presence.

"We want them to be larger than life, and someone who doesn't mind being out in the spotlight."

She said being a part of the fundraiser was a unique experience.

"It's a life-changing experience and everyone that danced last year said they were so pleased they did it."
