Rotorua locals and holidaymakers can enjoy a Kiwi summertime tradition - a day at the races - this weekend at Arawa Park.

The Interislander Summer Festival is coming to town on Sunday and the Rotorua Daily Post is giving away an awesome prize pack to one lucky punter.

The prize pack includes four adult passes, a travel blanket, three kids' races packs and a large tote bag to carry it all in.

The passes can be used at any Interislander summer race event around the country.

The Interislander Summer Festival has a fun and casual atmosphere where families can bring deckchairs, umbrellas, and a picnic to enjoy a classic Kiwi summer's day.

There's great food, free entertainment for kids and live music, Interislander general manager Mark Thompson said.

"We're pleased that so many people can enjoy a picnic and entertainment at their local race track. There's something on-course for everyone to enjoy."

The New Zealand Racing Board and Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) have also partnered up for the Interislander Summer Festival at Rotorua as part of a nationwide fundraising initiative.

In each of the eight races at Rotorua, a TAB Racing Tipster will select a horse in the "TAB Summer Selection".

If the selection finishes in first place, the TAB will donate $75 to RMHC. If the selection comes second or third, the TAB will donate $50. Gates open on Sunday at 11am.

-To be in to win the prize pack, email readers@dailypost.co.nz with your contact details and the word "Races" in the subject line. The winner will be drawn Thursday, Christmas Eve, at midday.
