A faulty transformer cut power to more than 1300 Rotorua residents, and many have been on generator power since.
Unison customer service and communications manager Danny Gough said 1341 customers in the Devon St area were without power on Thursday for a little more than two hours from 5pm afterthe faulty transformer disrupted power supply.
Most residents had power restored within an hour and a generator was supplying power yesterday to 89 customers, Mr Gough said.
"Everybody has power at the moment. We aren't sure what has happened. Staff are looking at what has caused the fault and in the meantime a generator is supplying power to these customers."
Meanwhile, the street lights on Te Ngae Rd between Sala St and Vaughan Rd have been out for more than four months, leaving motorists and pedestrians literally in the dark.
Rotorua District Council works manager Peter Dine said it had notified Unison about the issue on December 17, last year, but wasn't able to advise when the problem would be resolved or the cause of the issue.
