One of New Zealand's most wanted men has been arrested almost two weeks after he allegedly shot at police officers in Morrinsville.

Rollie James Heke, 36, has been on the run from police since August 13, when he allegedly shot at police in Morrinsville.

At 1.30 this morning police found him at an address in Kaingaroa Forest township.

Police superintendent Bruce Bird said Heke had been arrested "without incident and without undue risk to the community".

The newly captured man will be held in custody and will appear in the Rotorua District Court this afternoon.

He will be charged in relation to outstanding warrants on methamphetamine-related offending.

Bird said further charges were also likely.
