The fun Frocktober bike ride will bring a splash of pink to the city this weekend.
Rotorua Frocks on Bikes will host the inaugural pink-themed Frocktober event at Kuirau Park on Saturday, which will include a collection for Breast Cancer Month.
The event is open to all ages and will include complimentary
cupcakes and sparkling grape juice for participants at the end of the ride.
It will be the fifth Rotorua Frocks on Bikes event since November last year, but the first Frocktober event in support of breast cancer.
Event organiser Kylie Lang said she looked forward to what would be a good opportunity for locals to get together and support a good cause, as well as have a lot of bike style fun.
"There are currently about 35 registrations and we even have a team from Tauranga coming along," she said.
"It's a great chance for everyone to dress up in whatever pink they have, whether it be a frock or anything else pink."
Local couple Pam and Dennis Kenny have helped as volunteers for Rotorua's Frocks on Bikes rides since it was launched.
Mrs Kenny said it was a fun, friendly event and she looked forward to seeing the different pink outfits and variety of bikes.
"In previous events, people didn't just turn up with your everyday modern bikes, there were all types of bikes from the 70s and so on, it's quite exciting," she said. "Hopefully we will have fine weather."
The event is free and runs from 1.30-3pm on Saturday, starting at Kuirau Park by the playground on Saturday. For catering purposes you must register by 12pm tomorrow at kylie.lang@rdc.govt.nz.
