Travel on all Bay of Plenty Regional Council contracted bus services - including Rotorua's Cityride - will be free between 4pm and 6pm in November.

Free Ride Fridays apply to Bayhopper user in Tauranga or Whakatane, Cityride in Rotorua as well as some of the rural services.

Free Ride Fridays stem from the World Car Free Day promotion in September and regional council public transport committee chairman Lyall Thurston said it's a great way for incentivising new users to give public transport a go.

"We're thrilled to offer the Free Ride Fridays promotion all across the Bay of Plenty this November. It's a chance to say thanks to our regular passengers as well as encouraging others to leave their cars at home."

Free Ride Fridays begins on November 3 and more information including timetables is available at www.baybus.co.nz.
