Football: Ngongotaha target away win

Ngongotaha AFC will turn their focus back to the Federation One competition after their dream run in the Chatham Cup ended last weekend.

They lost 2-1 to Melville United on Sunday in front of a big crowd at Stembridge Rd.

It marked the end of a great run, which saw them reach the final 16 teams in the country.

They will now turn their attention back to the Waibop Federation One competition where they sit fifth on the table with three games in hand.

Ngongotaha's next game is tomorrow when they travel away to play Matamata Swifts tomorrow.

Their rivals are trying to avoid relegation this season and sit in 11th place in the 12-team competition.

That match kicks off at 2.45pm tomorrow at Matamata Domain.

Meanwhile, Rotorua United have a fight on their hands this season as they look to gain promotion back into the Federation One competition.

They sit in third spot on the ladder with the top two teams promoted at the end of the year.

United will visit Te Awamutu tomorrow and will feel they have to win. Ngongotaha's reserve team, who also play in the Federation Two competition, will host West Hamilton tomorrow.
