Rotorua United are back in a promotion spot following a 2-0 victory over Te Awamutu in the Waibop Federation Two competition.

United defeated Te Awamutu away on Saturday thanks to a brace from young talent Josh Chemis.

The win sees United leapfrog Papamoa on the table into second spot. Katikati are running away with the title but there is still a good battle for second place.

The top two sides, at the end of the season, will be promoted to the Waibop Federation One competition.

Meanwhile, Ngongotaha slumped to a 2-1 loss against Matamata Swifts on Saturday in the tough Federation One competition.

Matamata are battling to stay out of the relegation zone and mustered an important win at home against Ngongotaha.

The result will come as a reality check for Ngongotaha, who were contesting the Chatham Cup fourth round a week ago.

AFC Fury (Tauranga) remain top of the ladder despite drawing 3-3 with Tauranga Old Blues at the weekend.
