A fire investigator is investigating the cause of a well-engulfed house fire in Edgecumbe overnight.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand shift manager said multiple 111 calls were received about the well-involved house fire in Te Teko Rd just before 5 am today.

The spokeswoman said there no reports of anyone being inside the property and police also attended to assist with traffic management.

She said the fire measured 20 metres by 10 metres and the extent of the damage and the cause of the fire was being investigated.

A fire investigator had just turned up at the property and no further information was available at this time, the Fire and Emergency NZ shift manager said.
