Election 2013: Full rundown on Rotorua's new council

Rotorua has elected its youngest councillor, the husband of a former councillor and a mayoral candidate to be part of the new Rotorua District Council.

At 21-years-old Tania Tapsell, great niece of Sir Peter Tapsell, will become the district's youngest councillor.

Ms Tapsell ended up with 8234 votes, coming in fifth place in the race for the 12 seats on the council.

Peter Bentley, husband of former councillor Maggie Bentley, also made it onto the district council coming in eight place with 7746 votes.

Mayoral candidate Rob Kent received 6462 votes, coming in eleventh place.

Only one incumbent councillor was voted off with Julie Calnan missing out with 6177 votes.

Mike McVicker received 6279 votes and retained his seat on the council in 12th out of 12 spots available.

Voter numbers were almost the same as in the 2010 election with 19,785, or 43.33 per cent of Rotorua's 45,663 registered voters having their say.

With 98 per cent of votes counted their should be little change to the final results.
