A driver is now on the run after leading police on a dangerous chase through Western Heights this morning.

A police media spokeswoman said police attempted to pull over a vehicle at 9am this morning.

The vehicle failed to stop and began a chase around the Western Heights area.

Police called off the chase due to the dangerous driving of the vehicle.

"The vehicle was located a short time later on Sunset Rd and the driver had fled," the spokeswoman said.

"Police enquiries are ongoing."
