He was one of the stars of New Zealand's heroic 1992 challenge for the cricket World Cup and now he's bringing the trophy to Rotorua.

Chris "Harry" Harris was well known for his athletic fielding, accurate bowling and ability to score quickly and says he's now living the dream of holding the trophy he was unable to win while playing the game.

Harris is bringing the ICC Cricket World Cup trophy to Rotorua tomorrow as part of a promotion for the tournament which will be held in New Zealand and Australia this summer.

Rotorua locals will get the chance to have their photo taken with the cup, play a bit of cricket with Harry and enter a competition to win free tickets to matches in the region at a family-friendly event at the Lakefront Reserve from 7.30am to 11.30am.

The event also features an interactive exhibition on the history of the tournament, cricket skills challenges and giveaways.

Harris said the national tour was a great way to give as many Kiwis as possible a chance to see the trophy and kick start the summer of cricket.
